Helen Marie Gray

MARYSVILLE – Helen Marie Gray, 97, of Marysville, Ohio, formerly of Wellsville, passed away Sunday, Jan. 6, 2019, at Memorial Hospital of Marysville surrounded by her loving family.

She was born March 24, 1921, in Steubenville, the daughter of the late Ollie and Jeanette (Patterson) Graham. In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death in 1976 by her husband, Homer, whom she married on May 9, 1942. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Jean Dorff; and two brothers: John and Harry Graham.

She graduated from Toronto High School in 1939. She had been employed as a bomb assembler during World War II and also worked as an office assistant at Sterling China Company and the former HK Porter Company before retiring in 1968. Helen was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church where she sang in the choir for over sixty years. She was also a member of the Sweet Adeline’s singing group. In addition to singing, She loved to dance, and she choreographed some of Wellsville High School’s Ebony & Ivory routines in the 1980s and 1990s. She also loved to travel and spend time with her family.

Survivors include one son, Richard Gray and his wife, Kay, of Marysville, OH; and one brother, Ellsworth “Pickle” Graham of Toronto. Also surviving are four grandchildren: Kristine Cromwell, Karen Gray-Medina, Bill Gray and Brad Gray; and twelve great-grandchildren: Michael, Delanee, Kendall, Reggan, Gage, Chase, Cooper, Brecken, Bree, Taytum, Truen and Devyn.

The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 13, 2019, at the Roberts Funeral Home with Pastor Rick Stanley of the church officiating.

Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.
