Charles ‘Mel’ Allen, 72
WELLSVILLE — Charles “Mel” Allen, 72, of Wellsville passed away at his residence on Monday, Nov. 5, 2018.
He was born in Portland, Ohio on Sept. 9, 1946 a son of the late Charles W. and Virgie M. (Cornell) Allen. Living most of his life in this area, he worked as a kiln operator for the former Ferro Company. Mel also worked for Walmart, the American Station in Wellsville, drove a cement truck and worked as a deck hand on a boat. He enjoyed working on cars, gardening and attended Grace Baptist Church.
He is survived by two sons: Charles William Allen and his wife Jennifer and Jason Allen both of Wellsville; a daughter: Sherrie Allen of East Liverpool; two brothers: Marvin Allen and his wife Joyce of Racine, Ohio and Sam Timmins and his wife Linda of East Liverpool; twelve grandchildren and his faithful companion Hercules.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son: Michael Ray Allen, two daughters: Judy Kay Allen and Carrie A. Mellott and three sisters.
Services will be held at the Care MacLean Chapel of the Care Funeral & Cremation Specialists on Thursday, Nov. 8, 2018 at 7 p.m.
Family will be present to receive friends at the MacLean Chapel on Thursday, Nov. 8, 2018 from 5 p.m. until the time of the service.
