Nick Susich

CALCUTTA — Nick Susich, 79, of Calcutta, formerly of Ohioville, passed away on Aug. 31, 2018 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Born on June 16, 1939, in Midland, he was a son of the late Paul and Dorothy Susich, and was a member of the St. George Serbian Orthodox Church, Midland. Nick was a veteran of the U.S. Army and retired from Crucible Steel, and Colt Industries. He was also a member of the American Yugoslav Club, he loved his farm, cooking for parties, and always looking to have a good time. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

Surviving Nick is his beloved wife of nearly 55 years, Jeanne Brown Susich; a son, Nick (Darcy Stitt) Susich Jr. of Calcutta; a daughter, Elizabeth “Betsy” (Rich Kozak) Somerville of Calcutta; brothers, Larry (Ruth) Susich of Ohio, Mike “Brates” Susich of Industry, Paul (Connie) Susich of Rochester; sisters, Martha (Mutsie) Padezanin of Virginia, Helen “Jelena” (Ken) Janke, of Brighton Twp, Louise ‘Chookie’ (Joe) Resanovich of Canton, Ohio, Ann “Anka” Laketa of Illinois; grandchildren, Shain Wingrove, Max Somerville, Bruce ” B.C.” (Rachael) Fleming, Samantha Susich, Benjamin Somerville, and Nikola Susich. Nick was also anxiously awaiting the birth of his first great-grandson, Miles. Also surviving are brothers-in-law, George (LeeAnn) Brown of West Virginia, Jeff (Jean) Brown of Utah, Robert (Julie) Murphy of New York; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received on Monday, Sept. 3 ,2018 in the Schwerha-Noll Funeral Home, 600 Beaver Avenue, Midland Pa., from 1-6 p.m. Friends are asked to gather at the Saint George Serbian Orthodox Church, 30 10th Street, Midland Pa. for a funeral service on Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2018 at 10 a.m. conducted by Father Dejan Barac. A Committal Service will follow at the Beaver Cemetery conducted by his friend Rev. Vel Vais of Glenmoor Presbyterian Church in East Liverpool.
