Mildred Charleen ‘Shug’ Rodgers, 82
WELLSVILLE — Mildred Charleen “Shug” Rodgers, 82, of Wellsville, passed away Wednesday, March 7, 2018, at The Orchards of East Liverpool.
She was born June 6, 1935, in East Liverpool, the daughter of the late Clifford John and Sula “Irene” (Christy) Fultz. In addition to her parents, Charleen was preceded in death on June 15, 2016, by her husband, Charles E. “Chuck” Rodgers, whom she married April 29, 1955. She was also preceded in death by her granddaughter, Chelsea Lingenfelter; and two sisters: Delores Ralston and LaRue Bowers.
Shug graduated from Wellsville High School in 1952. She had been employed as a waitress in many local restaurants that her father owned, as well as having worked at Patterson Foundry and Bell Telephone. Shug was proud of being a majorette in high school, and she loved to spend time with her grandchildren. She was also a member of the Eastern Star and the Wellsville First Christian Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Joni Logston and her husband, Steve, of Highlandtown; one son, Gregg Rodgers and his wife, Penny, of Wellsville; one sister, Myrna Lowe and her husband, Charlie, of Wellsville; and one brother, John Fultz and his wife, Sandy, of Kent, Ohio. Also surviving are two granddaughters: Jaime (Shawn) Barborak and Tarrah (Brian) Afek; three step-grandchildren: Willie, Mike, and Jessi Logston; and three great-grandchildren: Fiona, Jack, and Gannon.
The funeral service will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday, March 10, 2018, at the Roberts Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Blakeley of the church officiating.
Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery.
