Janet L. Taggart, 78

WELLSVILLE – Janet L. Taggart, 78, of Wellsville, passed away Sunday, Feb. 4, 2018, at East Liverpool City Hospital.

She was born Oct. 4, 1939, in Salineville, the daughter of the late Howard and Marjorie (Beebout) Smith. In addition to her parents, Janet was also preceded in death on Aug. 8, 2017, by her husband, Ronald Taggart, whom she married Aug. 16, 1957.

Janet graduated from Carrollton High School in 1957. She had previously been employed for 13 years as a cashier at the Salineville IGA until 1986. She then worked for 13 years as a secretary for the Columbiana County Counseling Center before retiring in 2007. Janet was an active member in the Highlandtown Grange, Highlandtown Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, and the Wellsville Lady Elks. She was a member of Highlandtown Methodist Church where she also sang in the choir.

Survivors include two sons: Scott Taggart and his wife, Angela, of Wellsville, and Greg Taggart of Wellsville; and two brothers: James Smith and his wife, Renee, of Minerva, and Thomas Smith and his wife, Dolly, of Mechanicstown. Also surviving are five grandchildren: Josh Taggart, Erin Taggart, Shannon (Denny) Orr, Grant Blazer, and Austin (Darcy) Morris; and two great-grandchildren: Brantley Orr and Jaxx Morris.

The funeral service will be held at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2018, at the Roberts Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Blakeley of the Wellsville First Christian Church officiating.

Friends may call two hours prior to the service on Wednesday at the Roberts Funeral Home, 631 Main Street in Wellsville.

Burial will be in Highlandtown Cemetery.
