James Richard “Jim” Chase, 68
ROGERS — James Richard “Jim” Chase, 68, of Rogers, formerly of Wellsville, passed away Thursday, Feb. 1, 2018, at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Boardman.
He was born Dec. 13, 1949, in East Liverpool, the son of the late Richard Lowell and Betty Lou (Heiney) Chase. In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death on Feb. 1, 2006, by his wife, Cathy A. (Phenicie) Chase, whom he married Oct. 7, 1972; and in 2008 by his daughter, Megan Chase.
Jim graduated from Wellsville High School in 1968 and served in the United States Army from 1968 to 1971 during the Vietnam War. He was employed for over thirty years in the cold strip and temper mill for the former Crucible and J&L Steel Mills. Jim was a proud member of the Steelworkers’ Union Local 1212, and he also served as a Boy Scout leader for his grandson, Collin. Jim was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church in East Liverpool.
Survivors include one daughter, Rachel Evans of East Palestine; one sister, Diane Osborn and her husband, Robert, of Wellsville; and one brother, Jason Chase and his wife, Mary Jane, of Wellsville. Also surviving are two grandsons: Collin James Chase and Jaxon Robert Laroche.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 5, 2018, in the chapel at Spring Hill Cemetery, 10th Street Extension in Wellsville, with Pastor Eric Edwards of the church officiating. The Tri-State Burial Group will accord full military honors at 10:50 a.m.
Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Friends may call from 12-2 p.m. and 3-5 p.m. Sunday at the Roberts Funeral Home, 631 Main Street in Wellsville.
