Patricia Greene Smouse, 91
AURORA, OHIO — Patricia Knowles Greene Smouse, of Aurora, Ohio, formerly of East Liverpool, passed away Friday, March 17, 2017 at her residence. She was 91.
Born in East Liverpool, Nov. 2, 1925, she was the daughter of the late John William and Margaret Louise Knowles Greene. A member of the East Liverpool High School Class of 1943, she continued her education at Kent State University and later earned her Master’s in Education from there in 1976. For many years she taught in both Ravenna and Kent City School systems until retiring in 1985.
She was a member of the United Church of Christ of Kent. Other memberships include the Portage County Retired Teachers Association, Kent State University Women, Coterie I, Chestnut Society, Elm Garden Club, the Portage County Gardeners, the East Liverpool High School Alumni Association and several bridge clubs.
On March 27, 1944, she married Francis J. Smouse. The couple has three children: F. Jeffrey Smouse and his wife, Cathy, of Sanford, N.C., M. Lynne Smouse and her husband, Hector Lopez, of Portland, Ore., and Barbara Anne Colucci and her husband, Douglas, of Stonybrook, N.Y.
There are six grandchildren: Scott and Bryan Smouse, Alex and Ryan Colucci, and Kamil and Nichole Smouse-Lopez, and 6 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Dr. John Randall Greene in 1986.
A memorial service will be held at the United Church of Christ, 1400 E. Main St., Kent, Ohio on Saturday, March 25th at 11 a.m. A service will also be conducted at Independence Village – Senior Living, Aurora, Ohio, at 1 p.m., Friday, March 24th.
