Sue Ellen Wisbith

ROGERS — Sue Ellen Wisbith, 75, a resident of Low Road, Lisbon, passed away, while surrounded by her family, early Monday morning, Jan. 30, 2017, at the Hospice House in Poland, following a long series of medical issues.

Born in Bellevue, Pa., on Jan. 22, 1942, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Eleanor Williams McKenry.

A 1959 graduate of Beaver High School, she attended nurses training at the New Brighton (Pa.) Hospital School of Nursing. In her last year of training, she chose marriage and to raise a family.

She was a Red Cross CPR instructor, a Cub Scout den mother, and was a founding member and lifelong secretary/treasurer of U.S. SARR Corps. At one time, Sue had been involved in Rescue 40, a Tri-State Search, Rescue and Recovery team for missing persons in Columbiana and surrounding counties. She served as an interviewer and analysis for missing persons until her retirement. She operated a small venture for making wedding cakes. Several of her hobbies were decorating ceramic figures, Christmas decorations, planting flowers, collecting stuffed teddy bears, making a variety of handmade crafts, and attending craft shows.

Early on, she worked for the AC Neilson Company in Chicago as a data entry clerk.  For the remainder of her life, she was secretary/treasurer for the Ara Corporation — a family owned printing company in Koppel, Pa., as a joint venture with her husband. In addition to her administrative duties, she was a typesetter and performed related tasks.  She had received a national award for third place for speed and accuracy for her typesetting skills. Her favorite love was raising her children, and her devotion to Christmas has been shared by her loving family. She worked behind the scenes at the Beaver County Festival of Trees.

She is survived at home by her husband of 55 years, Ronald S. Wisbith. There are three daughters: Laurie Kernich and her husband, Ed, of Lisbon, Christine Balmenti and her husband, John, of Negley, and Amy Tyger of New Waterford, and two sons, Scott Wisbith and his wife, Jody, of East Palestine, and Brian Wisbith and his wife, Cindy, of Lisbon.  Also left to cherish her memory are eight grandsons: Ryan, Daniel, Kyle, Thomas, Conner, Jeremy, Nathanial, and Kamron, as well as two granddaughters, Jessica and Lauren. There are four great-grandsons: Logan, Caleb, Brody, and one due in May, and four great-granddaughters: Nicole, Olivia, Emma and Aubrey.

A sister survives as well, Judith Campana and her husband, Ed, of Negley.

Friends may visit Thursday evening at the Dawson Funeral Home, where the family will be present from 5-8 p.m.  Father Peter Haladej of Holy Trinity Parish of St. Aloysius Church will conduct a funeral service Friday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will be at Columbiana County Memorial Park.
