Louise Ludwig, 87

EAST LIVERPOOL — Louise Ludwig, age 87, of East Liverpool, ascended of this earth peacefully on Feb. 12, 2017 from Foxcrest Assisted Living in Chester, W.Va., where she had been a resident since March 2014. Mrs. Louise Thayer Ludwig was born in Pittsburgh, Pa., the daughter of Harding Hulse Thayer and Clarita Stevens Thayer.

Mrs. Ludwig graduated Carnegie Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Science degree in History in 1951. She received a Master of Library Science degree from Carnegie Institute of Technology in 1952. She married Jack Brian Ludwig on July 12, 1952, and lived in East Liverpool since 1954. She continued her education at the University of Pittsburgh, Kent State University, and the University of Utah. She was employed as a Media Specialist by the East Liverpool City Schools from 1968 until she retired in 2001.

Mrs. Ludwig was active in the Delta Delta Delta sorority; the Newcomers Club; the Jaycettes; Den Mother for the Cub Scouts; American Library Association; Book Reviewer for the State Library of Ohio; Ohio Educational Library Media Association; Pymatuning Yacht Club; YMCA and Edwardian Ladies.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Karl, husband Jack in January 2001, and daughter-in-law Jo in August 2013.

She is survived by her sister Lynn Taussig of Monroe, N.J. and her three sons and their families: Scott Brian Ludwig of Knoxville, Tenn. and grandson Zach Ian Ludwig and his wife Kimberly of Pelham, Ala.; Richard Thayer Ludwig and his wife Dawn Lanman-Ludwig of Mechanicsburg, Ohio; and Karl Leopold Ludwig and grandsons Brian Alexander Ludwig and Dylan Thomas Ludwig of Columbus, Ohio. She is also survived by many loved nieces and nephews.
