WELLSVILLE — William M. “Bill” Boyce, 84, of Wellsville, passed away Monday, Jan. 9, 2017, at the Vista Center in Lisbon following a lengthy battle with cancer.

He was born May 18, 1932, in Wellsville, the son of the late Robert B. and Roma V. (Billingsley) Boyce.

In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by two sisters: Betty Dailey and Anna Kirby; and one brother, Robert L. “Lindy” Boyce.

Bill attended Wellsville High School. He served in the United States Air Force from 1952 to 1956 during the Korean War. Bill had been employed for fifteen years in the maintenance department for the former Ohio Edison Power Plant. After his retirement, he worked as a custodian for the former Perpetual Bank and most recently as an associate at Roberts Funeral Home for twenty years. Bill was active in the American Legion Post 70 where he served in the Color Guard and was Past Commander. He was also a member of the VFW Post 5647, Elks Lodge 1040, and the Wellsville Alumni Activities Committee.

Survivors include his wife, Carmela (Giordano) Boyce, whom he married Nov. 30, 1957; one daughter, Janice R. Rhodes of Columbus; one son, Robert W. Boyce of Wellsville; and one sister, Mary Lou Temple of Salineville. Also surviving are three grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Bill is also going to be greatly missed by his canine companion, Django.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, 2017, at the Roberts Funeral Home with Pastor Dirk Hall of the Living Well Church and Bill’s nephew, Deacon Anthony Giordano, officiating.

Burial will follow in St. Elizabeth Cemetery. The Tri-State Burial Group will accord full military honors.

Friends may call from 3-5 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at the Roberts Funeral Home, 631 Main Street in Wellsville.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in Bill’s name to the American Cancer Society, 525 N. Broad Street, Canfield, OH 44406.
