Herbert J. ‘Jim’ Moore, 82
CHESTER — Herbert J. “Jim” Moore passed peacefully, at his home, in Chester, on Tuesday morning, Nov. 29, 2016, following recent health problems.
Born March 22, 1934, in Chester, he was the last surviving child of the late Albert and Sarah Fowler Moore. Jim was 82 years old.
He retired in 1989, as a postal clerk for the United States Postal Service in the Chester office. Also for many years, he was the General Admissions Manager at the former Waterford Park Race Track.
Jim served his country as a Staff Sargent with the US Air Force in the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Chester American Legion Post 121 and VFW Post 6450.
His siblings who preceded him in death were Raymond, Carl, Robert, and Earl Moore, Hazel Hayward, Mary Strum, Alma Kochanowski, Mable Six, and Sarah Barnhart.
Jim leaves his son, Michael Moore of East Liverpool; his granddaughter, Kim Cooper of Norton, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
Pastor Tom Schneidmiller will celebrate Jim’s life at the Arner Funeral Chapel in Chester on Saturday at 10 a.m. Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home on Friday from 6-8 p.m. Full military honors will be provided by the Tri-State Veterans Burial Group and the US Air Force Honor Guard during interment ceremonies at the Locust Hill Cemetery in Chester following the Saturday Service.
