CALCUTTA — Constance E. Virden, 79, of Calcutta, passed away peacefully, on Oct. 22, 2016, at her home, with her daughter by her side, after suffering a lengthy illness.

She was born March 12, 1937, in East Liverpool, to the late Cliffton Hutchison and Estell V. Gillis. She was also proceeded in death by a son (stillborn); a sister, Janet Titus; and a niece, Debbie.

She worked for years at the Community Resource Center as a Outreach Assistant, after that she worked at McKinney’s Furniture in Calcutta, where she retired in 2000. She continued to outreach to family, friends and neighbors as she was always looking after and taking care of someone.

She had three surviving children that she raised on her own: Alfred D. Virden (Kara) of East Liverpool, Vicki L. Sachs (Rick) of Calcutta, and Tony F. Virden (Tammy) of Lisbon; and her loving devoted Beagle, Miss Kitty, that she rescued.

She loved and adored her nine grandchildren: Emma Virden, Hannah Virden, Rachel Smith (Nathan), Richard Sachs (Kelly), Michael Sachs (Courtney), Tyler Virden (Amy), Tod Virden (Lauren), Jamie Miller (Jen), and Ryan Milan.

She really loved and truly enjoyed her seven great-grandchildren: Kaden Smith, Ryder Smith, Natalie Sachs, Grayson Sachs, Deegan Virden Jacobi and Isla Miller.

She is also survived by her sister, Ann Nichols (Ron), and her children, Lorinda and Brandon and their families; her three brothers: Don Humphreys (Debbie) of Massachusetts, John Humphreys of East Liverpool, and Norman Butler (Denise) of East Liverpool and their families; and lots of nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

There will be no services as her final act of giving she donated her body to the “Gift Of Life” at the Cleveland Clinic.

She will be sadly missed by her family and friends and her Beagle.

The family asks if there are contributions made to please donate to Hospice of the Valley in your area.
