Dolores Rayle, 90

NEWELL – Dolores Rayle, 90, of Newell, went home to be with her Lord, Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2014, following a brief illness.

Born in Congo, Nov. 24, 1923, she was the daughter of Warren and Ada Boughner Smith.

She graduated as valedictorian of her class from Wells High School in Newell in 1942. She worked briefly and on June 12, 1943, she married the love of her life, Richard Rayle, who preceded her in death, April 3, 2009. During their 65 years of marriage, they raised five children and enjoyed their family as they grew in numbers and in love. Dolores will be remembered for her humble, loving and endearing ways, her determination to persevere no matter what came her way and her sincere desire to serve the Lord.

She was an active member of the Newell United Methodist Church serving many years as the treasurer of the church and treasurer of her Sunday School Class.

She is survived by one son, Neil (Paige) Rayle of Chester; and three daughters, Susie (Bob) Wilson, Kristie (Dave) Evans, both of Chester and Carole Ann Nixon of Maryland. There are 13 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren and two nieces and a nephew.

Preceding her in death was one son, Gary R. Rayle in 2000; one grandson, Matthew Paul Nowak in 2001; as well as two sisters, Bernadine O’Hara and Grace Finkbeiner; and two brothers, Bob Smith and Ray Boughner.

Calling hours will be Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Nixon Funeral Home in Newell, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 5, 2014. The Rev. Ethel Dunaway and the Rev. Kara Rowe will be officiating.

The interment will follow at Locust Hill Cemetery, Chester.
