ROGERS, Ohio – Thelma J. Wells passed away at the age of 72 at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 16, 2014, at her home on Sprucevale Road in Rogers.
A daughter of the late Carl and Sarah Ann Johnson Kearns, she was born in Newell, W.Va. on Dec. 27, 1941. A graduate of East Liverpool High School, she continued her education at Ohio Valley Business College.
Mrs. Wells had been a bookkeeper for Don Smith at one time, and was a homemaker.
Preceding her in death was her husband, Albert Wells.
Three sons survive: Dale Edward Hughes of Reno, Nev.; Roger Alan Hughes, Rogers; and Thomas Jeffery Hughes, of Fair Oaks, Calif. Another son, Melvin Leroy Hughes, Jr., preceded her in death. She is also survived by several grandchildren.
There are five sisters and three brothers: Juanita Faulk of Struthers; Shirley Brewer of Lisbon; Alice Horner, also of Lisbon; Sue Watson of Rogers; Rose Halligan of Lisbon; Carl “Conner” Kearns, Jr. of Cleveland; William Kearns of Yuba City, Calif.; and John Kearns of Alliance, Ohio.
Friends may visit at the Dawson Funeral Home on Thursday where the family will be present from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Services will be held at the funeral home at 11 a.m. on Friday.
