EAST LIVERPOOL – Winifred “Winnie” Wells Pickin passed away at her residence on Rhovanion Drive in East Liverpool early Monday morning, June 16, 2014. She was 93.
Born at home in Newell on Oct. 25, 1920, she was a daughter of the late Grace Alma Golding Wells and William Edwin Wells Jr. She attended the former Wells High School. She worked for the Office of Strategic Services (the forerunner to the CIA) in Washington, D.C. during World War II.
She was a member of Emmanuel Presbyterian Church.
She was preceded in death by first husband, Richard E. Moninger; second husband, Robert Crawford; and third husband, William E. “Pick” Pickin Sr.; daughter, Ann Elizabeth Moninger; stepdaughter, Barbara Jean Pickin; stepson, Jim Vermillion; and stepdaughter, Barbara Vermillion-Zabel.
Survivors include three stepsons, William E. “Bill” Pickin Jr., of East Liverpool; Stephen T. Pickin, of Newport, R.I.; and Dick Vermillion, of Houston, Texas; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
The Rev. Tanta Luckhardt Hendricks of Emmanuel Presbyterian Church will officiate at a memorial service to be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 26, 2014, at the Riverview Cemetery Chapel. Friends may visit with the family at the chapel one hour prior to the service.
She will be laid to rest at Riverview Cemetery.
