NEGLEY – Robert John Mecum, 74, passed away, surrounded by his family, at his home, Monday, June 30, 2014.
Born in Keokuk, Iowa, on April 9, 1940, he was a son of the late Frank and Mary Ferris Mecum.
He served his country with the U.S. Navy on the nuclear submarine fleet.
Mr. Mecum was associated with Duquesne Light, serving as shift supervisor at the Shippingport nuclear plant.
He was a member of Union Ridge Baptist Church, Rogers.
Survivors include his wife, Lorraine Foss Mecum, at home; four daughters and three sons: Diana Stewart of Columbiana, Lorry Barnard of Calcutta, Karen Perkins of Sunbury, Ohio, Janice Adkins of Canton, Tom Kelley of Palmyra, Maine, Brian Kelley of Interlachen, Fla., and Sam Mecum of East Liverpool; 29 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Karyl Tomberg of Chicago.
Visitation is 6-8 p.m., today, July 2, 2014, at Dawson Funeral Home.
The funeral service is 1:30 p.m. Thursday, July 3, 2014, at the funeral home with Pastor Randy Clark, of the church, officiating.
Burial in Crest Haven Memorial Gardens.
