EAST LIVERPOOL – George W. Woolmaker, 76, of Cannons Mill Road, East Liverpool, passed away Thursday, June 26, 2014 at his daughter’s residence in Virginia, following a lengthy illness.
He was born in East Liverpool, Jan. 9, 1938, a son of the late George M. and Laverna Shenton Woolmaker.
A graduate of the East Liverpool High School Class of 1956, Mr. Woolmaker predominately worked for the Weirton Steel Company as a crane operator and later as a truck driver until his retirement.
Surviving is a daughter, Patricia K. Beaver of Disputanta, Va.; and his two sons, Gary and John Woolmaker, both of East Liverpool. There are eight grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
There are two sisters, Jane Abbenda, of Glen Cove, N.Y., and Linda Brenneman of New Garden, Ohio, as well as a brother, Harry Woolmaker of Glenmoor.
His wife, Dorothy “Elaine” Woolmaker, preceded him in death.
Friends may visit at the Dawson Funeral Home on Wednesday evening where the family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m. The Rev. Eric M. Edwards of St. John Lutheran Church will conduct a funeral service at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Burial will be at Calcutta Cemetery.
