TORONTO – Ernest P. Bartels, 89, of Toronto, passed away Friday, July 4, 2014, in the Laurels of Steubenville.
Born Oct. 16, 1924, in Knoxville, Ohio, he was the son of the late Fredrick William and mama Alice McDonald Bartels and mother Eunice Hudson Bartels.
He was retired from Titanium Metals Corp., in Toronto, where he worked in the Tube Mill and also served his country during W.W.II in the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his wife, Carol M. (Lowe) Bartels; two daughters, Bridgett Norris of Akron and Alice Simpson of Indianapolis, Ind.; his son, Timothy Bartels of Greensburg, Pa.; two brothers, John Bartels of Sebring, Ohio, and Fred Bartels of Toronto; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Monday, July 7, 2014, from 3-7 p.m. at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home, Inc., Toronto. Additional visitation will be held on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 am. Son-in-law Bob Simpson will provide his service and entombment will follow in Fort Steuben Burial Estates in Wintersville.
Full military honors will be provided by the Toronto American Legion Post No. 86.
