Olga A. O’Kruta, 84

NEWELL – Olga A. O’Kruta of Newell passed away on Wednesday, June 11, 2014, at the Weirton Medical Center in Weirton in the peace and comfort of her loving family. She was 84 years old.

Olga was born in Newell on Aug. 27, 1929, to the late Demetri Gogol and Agnes Nakoneczny Gogol Pifko. Her stepfather was the late Mike Pifko.

She worked for 27 years as a registered nurse in the Obstetrics Department of East Liverpool City Hospital, and she owned and operated the Newell Heights Trailer Court in Newell.

Olga was a lifetime and very active member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Chester where she was a former member of the Parish Council and Ladies Guild. She also served as a lector and Eucharistic Minister and she scheduled readers and Eucharistic Ministers under Father Charles Savage.

A graduate of the former Wells High School, she was a member of the East Liverpool T.O.P.S.

Preceding Olga in death were her husband, Frank A. O’Kruta Sr.; her son the Rev. Father Frank A. O’Kruta Jr.; and her brothers, George and Mike Gogol.

She leaves her sons, Thomas M. O’Kruta and wife Amy of Steubenville, and John S. O’Kruta of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; her brother, John Pifko and wife Mary of Loreto, Pa.; her sister, Annie May of Chester; and her two special grandchildren, Abby and Austin O’Kruta.

There are also some very special friends the family would like to mention, Denny and Sharon Stapler of Newell, and Sister Jeanne Vidonic, and Father Gary Naegele of Wheeling.

Friends are invited to visit with the family at the Arner Funeral Chapel in Chester on Sunday from 2-8 p.m. and the Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m.

The Rev. Father Eric Antwi will be the presider for a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday at noon at Sacred Heart Catholic Church and interment will follow at the Locust Hill Cemetery in Chester.
