MCALLEN, Texas -Evelyn V. Laney, 76, of Dale, Texas formerly of Salem, died after a brief illness at 2:45 p.m. Wednesday, June 4, with her family at her side, at McAllen Heart Hospital in McAllen, Texas.
She was born June 19, 1937 in Chester, West Virginia, the daughter of Howard and Mabel (Allison) Strum.
She worked as a teller at the 1st National Bank in Salem, and retired from the United Heritage Credit Union in Austin Texas.
Survivors include her husband, Richard S. Laney of Dale, Texas.; six children, Vicky Porter of Lisbon, Rick Laney of Dale, Texas., Michelle Davenport of San Antonio, Texas., Randy Laney of Dale Texas., Sandy Guajardo of San Antonio, Texas., and Melissa Garza of Lockhart, Texas.; twelve grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; brothers Lester Strum of Lisbon, Bill Strum of St. Marys, W.Va., Joe Strum of Cambridge; sisters Majorie Evans of Chester, W.Va., Eleanor Wisor of Blairsville, Pa., and Susie Hileman of Wellsburg, W.Va.
Following Mrs. Laney’s wishes, no funeral services were conducted.
Arrangements were entrusted to the Rick Brown Funeral in McAllen, Texas.
