Victor R. Reed, 82
CHESTER-Victor R. Reed, 82 died on Friday May 9, 2014 at the Stone Pear Pavilion in Chester following a lengthy illness.
He was born in East Liverpool on Nov. 15, 1931 to the late Leland H. and Lillian D. Werling Reed.
Vic formerly owned and operated Smith Drilling in Chester for many years.
A member of the Chester First Christian Church, he graduated from the former Chester High School in 1950.
A proud veteran, he served his country with the US Air Force. Vic was a member of VFW Post 6450 and American Legion Post 121 in Chester.
Vic loved baseball and played for the Chester Old Timers and the Chester Men’s softball league for many years.
Preceding him in death was his son Troy Allan Reed and his sister, Barbara Jean Reed.
Vic leaves his wife, Marian Reed at home, two sons, Vic Reed and wife Jamie of Chester, and Duke Reed and wife Vicky of Chester, his daughter, Lissa Reed and companion, Rob Parsons of East Liverpool, brother, Bob Reed and wife Linn of East Liverpool, and sisters, Betty Bryan and husband Dick of Chester, and Bertha Wells and husband Denny of Mesa, Ariz. His grandchildren include, Amber McGeehan, Josh Reed, Brandy Reed, Whitley Reed, and Meghan Reed. There are three great-grandchildren, Timmy McGeehan, Reed McGeehan, and Victoria Estes.
In addition, he leaves his special friends since childhood, Elwood and Janet Fox, as well as many nieces and nephews.
His pastor, Stacy Popejoy will celebrate Vic’s life on Tuesday May 13 at 1 p.m. at the Arner Funeral Chapel in Chester. Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home on Monday from 2-8 p.m. The Tri-State Veterans Burial Group will offer full military honors along with the US Air Force Honor Guard during committal services at Shadow Lawn Memory Gardens in Newell following the Tuesday Services.
