W. Robert “Bob” Bloor, 79

EAST LIVERPOOL – Warren Robert “Bob” Bloor passed away at 11:04 p.m. Saturday, April 26, 2014, after being taken to UPMC Mercy earlier in the evening. Bob, who was 79, was surrounded at the time of his death by his loving wife, children and grandchildren.

Born on July 25, 1934 in East Liverpool, he was a son of the late Warren R. and Ruth Marie Wilkins Bloor and had been a lifetime area resident.

Bob was a 1953 graduate of East Liverpool High School and had been a member of the 1st United Methodist Church in East Liverpool for 78 years. Bob and his wife, Peggy, were often found helping on various committees, including the Kitchen Committee, and anything that had to do with the Good Samaritan House. Bob was the coordinator of the FISH food pantry since 2000 and had also served as an usher and greeter and a friend to all.

Following high school, he took his first job at Harry Bergner’s service station on Dresden Avenue, where he met his future wife, the former Peggy Call, whom he married on Feb. 14, 1957. Since then, there was rarely a time when one was seen without the other. She survives him at home.

In later years, Bob served as Credit Manager at Goodyear Tire in the city for over 20 years, before taking the same position at Crooks Furniture, where he remained until his retirement. When he wasn’t working, he loved gardening, making birdhouses in his wood shop, wiring old lanterns, and fishing. A quiet man by nature, he was patient and kind and devoted to everything he did. Those who knew him best will remember being taught by his loving example.

In addition to his wife, he also leaves behind two sons, Jeff Bloor and his wife, Cyndi, of East Liverpool, and David Bloor and his wife, Lisa, of Highlandtown.

Bob was the proud grandfather of Scott Bloor, Jarrod Bloor, Ashton Bloor and Marie Taylor, along with great-grandchildren Leini, Katie, and Jackie and husband Josh. There is one great-great grandson, Dominic.

He also leaves behind his sisters, Mildred Skidmore and her husband, Bob; Mary Lou Heidle and her husband, Charles; Dorothy “Dot” Young; and Marge Brick, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Bob was preceded in death by a sister, Flora Young.

Pastor Dale Sutton will officiate at a funeral service to be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Dawson Funeral Home. Following the service, friends and family will gather at the 1st United Methodist Church for a continued time of fellowship.

Friends may visit at the funeral home on Tuesday, where the family will be present from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.

In Bob’s memory, those wishing to do so may send contributions to FISH, P.O. Box 5181, East Liverpool, Ohio 43920
