Jesse R. Jackson, 56

GLENMOOR – Jesse R. Jackson, age 56, of Glenmoor passed away at home on Saturday, March 22, 2014, after a lengthy illness.

Born on Feb. 26, 1958, in East Liverpool, he was the son of Vera (Pethtel) Higgins of Glenmoor and the late Wilson W. Jackson. Living his entire life here, Jesse last worked at the Columbiana Co. Memorial Park.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his stepfather, Robert “Duke” Higgins of Glenmoor; one son, Jesse Jackson II of Salem; a daughter, Jewelene McCoy and her husband, Wade, of Hanoverton; two sisters, Karen Thayer and her husband, Richard, of Calcutta and Rhonda Mason and her husband Brian, of Glenmoor; two stepsisters, Deborah Cain of East Liverpool and Judy Duck and her husband, Duane, of Wellsville; six grandchildren, Wade II and Gage McCoy, and Cody, Joshua, Jesse III, Collin Jackson; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his father, Jesse was preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Jackson; and a stepbrother, William Higgins.

Services will be held at the Calcutta Chapel of the Martin MacLean Altmeyer Funeral Homes on Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Vel Vais of the Glenmoor Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Longs Run Cemetery.

Calling hours will be held at the funeral home in Calcutta on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.
