Alcie Hale Johnson, 89
EAST LIVERPOOL – Alcie Hale Johnson, of East Liverpool, passed away to be with the Lord and her beloved husband of 59 years, “Buster,” Wednesday, March 12, 2014, at Assisted Living Ministries in East Liverpool. She was 89.
Born in Griffithsville, W.Va., March 7, 1925, she was a daughter of the late Roma and Goldie Stowers Hale. She came to this area as a young woman and worked at various potteries. She was a devoted homemaker and was always involved in her children’s activities. She was an avid Potters’ sports fan and held offices in the booster clubs at one time.
She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in East Liverpool.
Alcie was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She touched the lives of many and to all who knew her it was both a “pleasure” and a “privilege.” She is now at peace in the Kingdom of the Lord and reunited with her loved ones for all eternity.
Her husband, Kenneth “Buster” Johnson, preceded her in death on Dec. 3, 2004. The couple married Feb. 18, 1946.
Surviving are a daughter, Veronica Torma, and her husband John, of East Liverpool; and two sons, Kenny Johnson of Bryan, Ohio, and Johnny Johnson, and his wife Michele, of Tallmadge, Ohio. There are six grandchildren, Troy (Garnett), Courtney, Misty, Jennifer, Kate and Matthew; as well as six great-grandchildren, Brianna, Logan, Delaney, Tanner, Dawson and Faith.
Other survivors include two sisters, Dorotha Burnside of Florida, and Gae Beagle of Wellsville.
Friends may visit Sunday afternoon and evening at the Dawson Funeral Home where the family will be present from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. The Rev. Merrill Williams of the church will conduct a funeral service at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Burial will be at Riverview Cemetery.
Following the service, family and friends will gather at the Dawson Family Center for fellowship.
