Erich C. Solterbeck, 78

EAST LIVERPOOL – Erich C. Solterbeck, 78, of East Liverpool died early Monday morning, March 25, 2013 at East Liverpool City Hospital.

Born in Schleswigg-Holstein, Germany on Sept. 8, 1934, he was a son of the late Johanes and Anna Solterbeck.

A Lutheran by faith, Mr. Solterbeck came to this area in 1952 and retired from the cold strip at the former Crucible Steel Co. in Midland following 27 years of service.

Preceding him in death on June 8, 1999 was his wife, Elizabeth Lamp Solterbeck. He was also preceded by a brother, Helmut Solterbeck.

Survivors include three daughters, Katherine “Kathy” Solterbeck of East Liverpool, Monica “Monie” Savage and her husband, Jimmy Joe of East Liverpool and Maria Broderick of Bellaire, Ohio along with one son, Michael Solterbeck and his wife, Candy of East Liverpool.

Four grandchildren survive, Erin Volino and her husband, Louie of Niles, Ohio, Christina Savage of East Liverpool, Nathan and Kerri Broderick of Bellaire, Ohio and one great grandson, Michael Volino.

Other survivors include a sister, Anna Katrina Black of Germany and a brother, Hans Solterbeck of Ravenna, Ohio.

Services are planned for 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Dawson Funeral Home with Pastor Tim Martin officiating. Friends may visit Tuesday at the funeral home where the family will be present from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.

Burial will be in Columbiana County Memorial Park.

Family and friends will gather at the Dawson Family Center following the service.
