Brittany Marie Gulu, 17

EAST LIVERPOOL – Brittany Marie Gulu, age 17, of East Liverpool, formerly of Salem, died at 10:46 p.m. Sunday, March 3, 2013, at the Salem Community Hospital from injuries sustained in an auto accident. She was born Feb. 9, 1996, in Youngstown, the daughter of Kimberly M. Gulu and the late Randy Summerville Jr.

Brittany was a junior at Salem High School and worked at the Courtyard at Lexington as a recreational aide. She was a member of the Crossroad Ministries and part of both the Drama Team and the Youth Group at the church.

She was involved in many activities including Band – both flag line and percussion, Choir, Project Support Club where she was Secret Pal Coordinator, Pep Club, Key Club and was part of the Track Team during her sophomore year. Brittany was in the cast of Thoroughly Modern Millie at the Salem High School Theater and was also involved in the Salem Community Theater. In addition, she was a football and basketball cheerleader her freshman and sophomore years, and this year was a Varsity Football Cheerleader earning her first varsity letter.

Survivors include her mother, Kim Gulu of East Liverpool; grandparents, Sam (Debbie McMillen) Bates of Salem and Randy and Angela Summerville of Austintown; two sisters, Brianna Gulu of Salem and Savannah Gulu of East Liverpool; two brothers, Brayden Martin of Salem and Connor Speece of East Liverpool; and several aunts and uncles.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 7, 2013, at the Crossroads Ministries, 1909 North Ellsworth, Salem, with Pastor Freddie Rodriguez and Pastor Rodney McManus of Crossroad Ministries along with Chalmer Perkins of Grace Pentecostal Church officiating. Calling hours will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at the Stark Memorial Funeral Home.
