Joseph “Joe” Newlun, 62

WELLSVILLE Joseph “Joe” Newlun of Forbes Road, died Monday, Feb. 4, 2013 at his home following a one year illness. He was 62.

Born in Chester, March 6, 1950, he was a son of Geraldine M. Fisher Adams of Glenmoor and the late Alfred C. Newlun. A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he served from 1968 to 1970.

A member of the Painters Union District Council 57 Local 530, he was a structural steel painter for many years. He was very talented, whether he was working on projects at home or restoring an old car. Above everything in life, he loved and enjoyed spending time with his family.

His wife, Donna Thorne Newlun, survives at home. The couple married July 2, 1979.

He will be sadly missed by his children: a daughter, Sarah Newlun, and her companion James Blake, of East Liverpool, and a step-son John Lunger, and his wife Debbie, of Killeen, Texas. He will be remembered by his four grandchildren: Madison, Jaidyn, Kyler and Lydia.

Two sisters survive as well: Charlotte Russell, and her husband Joe, of Harrisburg, Pa., and Julie Adams of Wellsville, along with a brother, Ron Newlun, and his wife Kathy, of Fredericktown.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Randy Newlun and John R. “Buck” Newlun.

Pastor Larry Rose will conduct a memorial service at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013 at the Northside Community Church. Following the service, family and friends will gather at the church fellowship hall for a luncheon.
