Jack V. Glover, 88

COLUMBUS – Jack V. Glover, 88 formerly of Tenth Street, Ext., Wellsville, died Sunday, Dec. 30, 2012, at Mt. Carmel East Hospital in Columbus following a lengthy illness. He was born in Wellsville on Sept. 25, 1924, and was a son of the late Charles and Edith (Deeley) Glover.

Living his entire life in the area, Mr. Glover retired in 1986, after working for 49 years in three local potteries, which included Wellsville China, Hall China and Sterling China. He was a 1944 graduate of Wellsville High School and a member of St. Stephens Episcopal Church in East Liverpool. He was a lay reader of the Ascension Church in Wellsville and was a Friend of the Ascension Church. Jack was active in Scouting, beginning in 1936 and attained the rank of Eagle Scout. He remained active for 61 years, serving as Scout Master and receiving the Silver Beaver Award as well as many local and county awards. Mr. Glover, along with his wife, was an avid sports fan.

His wife, Agnes V. (Bowyer) Glover died Aug. 27, 2012. They were married on Oct. 22, 1954.

Surviving are two daughters, Cheryl A. Smith and Cathy Hood, both of Columbus; two sisters, Ruth Culp and Edith Taggart, both of Wellsville; and five grandchildren, Joshua Glover, Katie Glover, Justin M. Smith, Alex Hiser and Daniel Hiser.

Besides his parents and wife a son, C. Bruce Glover; and two brothers, Charles Glover and Robert Glover, preceded him in death.

Services will be held at the Wellsville Chapel of the Martin MacLean Altmeyer Funeral Homes on Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, at 1 p.m. with Pastor Mary Vidmar of the church officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.

The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home in Wellsville on Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, from 11 a.m. up until the time of the service at 1 p.m.
