Nathaniel Statler

HOOKSTOWN, Pa. — Nathaniel Statler, a senior at South Side High School, has been selected as the November student of the month by the South Side Education Association. He is the son of Susan and Eric Statler of Aliquippa, Pa.

During high school he was a member of the varsity basketball and varsity baseball teams. He competed in the TEAMS Engineering competition, was a member of National Honor Society, and received Distinguished Honor Roll throughout his high school career.

He plans to attend Penn State Main to major in Aerospace Engineering.

Breanne Freund

HOOKSTOWN, Pa. — Breanne Freund, a senior at South Side High School, has been selected as the December student of the month by the South Side Education Association. She is the daughter of Roberta and Brian Freund of Hookstown, Pa.

During high school she was a member of the marching, concert and jazz bands, as well as the musical pit orchestra, she competed with South Side’s gymnastics team and a club gymnastics team, and she participated in the TEAMS Competition and Quiz Bowl. She is also a member of the Westinghouse Science Honors Institute, a member of National Honor Society, and serves as a class officer. Her volunteer work includes The Preemie Project, Our Lady of Fatima Food Bank, American Red Cross Student Volunteer Blood Drive Coordinator, and Communicycle.

She has received Distinguished Honor Roll throughout her high school career, AP Scholar with Honors, National Merit Commended Scholar, Westinghouse Award of High Scholastic Attainment, and an Academic Scholarship to attend the Penn State Science Leadership Camp.

She plans to attend a four year college or university to major in biochemistry with a focus on genetics and a minor in music.
