Chappell receives ‘People Helping People’ Scholarship
NEW CUMBERLAND — Jayson Chappell, a recent graduate of Oak Glen High School, recently was awarded a 2017 “People Helping People” Scholarship from First Choice America Community Federal Credit Union.
Chappell plans to major in Air Traffic Control and become a professional pilot at the Community College of Beaver County. He is the son of Earl and Michelle Chappell of New Cumberland.
Other scholarship recipients include Lucretia Shumate of Linsly, and Wheeling Park graduates Carly Arensberg, Emma Blair and Emilee Heilman.
Since the program’s inception in 1995, the Credit Union has awarded $135,000 in scholarships. Each recipient receives $1,000.
The ‘People Helping People’ Scholarship is open to high school and college students who are primary members of First Choice America Community Federal Credit Union. Grade point average, scholastic achievements, and community involvement are considered in awarding the scholarships. Applications with complete guidelines for the next school year will be available in October at any of First Choice America Credit Union’s eight office locations.
