New Manchester Elementary School received a Whole Kids Foundation Grant to create a school garden. With the help of Rita Hawkins of the Brooke-Hancock Resource Network, the school was awarded the grant in April. New Manchester Elementary School started the beginning stages of the garden with the help of Shelly Anderson of the WVU Extension Office; Bud Simmons, master gardener; Daniel Mayfiled and Jessica Davis, WVU summer interns; and Addison Sayre and Felicity Nolder, volunteers. Third grade students at New Manchester Elementary will begin growing crops in the fall with many curriculum lessons included in the areas of Science, Math, Health, and Reading. (Submitted photo)
