SALINEVILLE — Kaitlin Ketchum has been chosen as the Salineville Kiwanis May Student of the Month at Southern Local High School.

The daughter of Doug and Wendy Ketchum of Salineville, she currently holds a 3.9 grade point average and ranks eighth in her graduating class. She was recognized during the Kiwanis’ monthly breakfast on May 16.

Ketchum, who also studies in the landscape and design program at the Columbiana County Career and Technical Center, has been involved with FFA for four years and earned the FFA Greenhand and Chapter degrees at both Southern Local and CCCTC, as well as a member of the National Honor Society and National Technical Honor Society at both schools for two years.

She is also an athlete in her own right, playing volleyball and softball for the past four years. Ketchum earned participation awards in volleyball as a freshman, sophomore and junior and was a first-year letterman this year, plus she has lettered in softball for the past three years and received the All-Conference Academic Award as a junior.
