St. Clair Township Police Reports
Officers responded at 10:05 a.m. Sunday to reports of a vehicle stuck on a guardrail on Dresden Avenue, but they checked the area and found only a license plate lying in the roadway. A witness advised the vehicle continued on, traveling north on Dresden, where officers checked and found part of a bumper in the right lane of state Route 11, north of state Route 170. They continued searching state Route 11 and didn’t locate the vehicle. An officer received a call on his cell phone from a witness saying there was a female at BP Oil acting up and throwing money in the parking lot who had left in a vehicle headed toward Irish Ridge Road. The witness continued following the vehicle, providing officers updates, including advising the vehicle had gone through a red light at state Route 170, nearly causing an accident before pulling into an apartment on Irish Ridge. Officers arrived to find the vehicle with heavy front-end damage, running with Carol A. Wright-McClellan, 52, Grove Alley, behind the wheel with a small bleeding cut in her chin. They reported an odor of alcohol came from the vehicle and Wright-McClellan had slurred speech, bloodshot eyes and was unsteady on her feet. She denied being involved in an accident or running a red light. She was placed under arrest for OVI and while being handcuffed, reportedly began pulling away from officers, swearing at them. She was transported to county jail, charged with OVI, open container in a motor vehicle and failure to control. The officer who transported her reported Wright-McClellan was cursing him most of the way to the jail.
