Columbiana County Sheriff

Chad Bickel, Steubenville Pike, Center Township, reported June 13 a Ford engine, a Toro zero-turn mower and a chainsaw were stolen from his property, along with money from his bank account.

A deputy checked on a man sitting in a vehicle in a pull off area of Winona Road in Butler Township at 2:37 p.m. Thursday and found the man was waiting for someone to come help him fix his tire so he could get it moved.

A deputy responded to a report of domestic violence at a home on Sprucevale Road in Middleton Township at 12:42 p.m. Thursday. The deputy spoke with the people there, and they said that there was some yelling between them. One of the men who had scratches on his face did not wish to press charges.

A Mick Road, Yellow Creek Township woman reported at 2:25 p.m. Monday her neighbor was harassing her by text message and had confronted her at her home. A deputy spoke with the neighbor, who said that she used to babysit for the woman, but the woman no longer calls her to babysit and she was concerned as to why. Deputies told the women to leave each other alone.

Deputies were called to 41983 Metz Road at 8:08 p.m. Thursday for a report of domestic violence. Upon arrival deputies spoke with Brianna Shaffer, 19, state Route 7, Rogers, who said that her brother Brandon Shaffer, 21, Walnut Street, Leetonia, had assaulted her. Brianna Shaffer reported she was giving her brother a ride home from the Sandwich Factory due to him being intoxicated, and he became upset that she would not let him drive and began choking her while she was driving. She also reported that once she got home she ran inside and locked herself in a bedroom but he broke down the door and picked her up off the ground and slammed her back onto the ground and he then went outside and damaged her vehicle. Brandon Shaffer was arrested for domestic violence and criminal damaging and taken to the county jail.
