Liverpool Township Police Reports

An officer was stationary at Campground Road and Shadyside Avenue when he reported seeing a vehicle turn down Campground with no taillights or license plate light. He activated his overhead lights in an attempt to stop the vehicle, which continued on until it reached Peterson Road, where it pulled over, going off the road, into a ditch and a drain, where it bottomed out, went over a driveway and back into the ditch on the other side, striking another drain before stopping. The driver, Garrett A. Mays, 20, state Route 7, Lisbon, told the officer he had just changed the light bulb, according to reports. The officer reported he smelled of alcohol but denied drinking, although he was having trouble standing. Mays said he had had beer spilled on him, the officer reported. His passenger, Herbert W. Lockhart III, 30, Center Street, had an open bottle of alcohol between his legs, which he told officers he did not know was illegal. He was charged with open container. Mays was taken to the police station, where he took a breathalyzer and was charged with OVI, no tail lights and expired plates
