Columbiana County Common Pleas

Malik Shabazz, 20, Washington Street, Salem, pleaded guilty in Columbiana County Common Pleas Court to inducting panic and obstructing official business. He is facing up to two years in prison and a $7,500 fine. Sentencing was set for Aug. 13. On Oct. 3, 2017, Shabazz cause alarm to a number of people in Centennial Park while running from police and carrying a handgun, which people saw in his pants while at the basketball court.

n Benjamin R. Hipsley, 61, Clark Street, Newell, W.Va., was placed on four years community control and credited with already serving a mandatory six months in jail for failure to comply with an order or signal of a police officer, OVI and driving under suspension. He was fined $375. On June 25, 2016, Hipsley refused to stop driving, when police attempted to stop him and he was intoxicated.

Dominick T. Davidson, 21, Akron, pleaded guilty to possession of drugs with a forfeiture specification. Sentencing is set for Aug. 10. On July 13, 2017, Davidson had 7.98 grams of cocaine in East Liverpool. He is facing up to 18 months in prison, a five-year license suspension and a $5,000 fine.

John T. Hamilton, 30, East Fourth Street, Salem, pleaded guilty to possession of drugs for amphetamines he had on Feb. 17, 2017. At the July 13 sentencing he is facing up to a year in prison, a five-year license suspension and $2,500 fine.
