Deputies were asked at 1:01 p.m. Friday to check on a resident of New Waterford, by a concerned friend, who said he has not seen or heard from his friend since Feb. 16. Police found newspapers from the past couple weeks, but the mailbox was empty except for what was just placed there by the mailman. His vehicles were all there, and the friend insisted he was in the house. Deputies broke out a small pane of glass and searched the home, but did not find him. Dispatchers contacted local fire departments to see if he had been recently transported. East Palestine police informed deputies they received a call from Glen Dale, W.Va., police the week of Feb. 16, when the New Waterford man had been found disoriented in their city and was trying to get home. Glen Dale police had kept him there until his daughter could drive there from her home in Swanton, Ohio. Using a phone number on the Glen Dale police report, deputies contacted the daughter and learned the man is with her in Swanton, but they had dropped off his truck at his house on their way to her house. Deputies secured the home.
