Area firefighters extinguish truck fire
CALCUTTA — Firefighters from Calcutta and Glenmoor quickly extinguished a truck fire Monday night near state Route 170 and Duke Road, possibly caused by a malfunctioning brake.
According to fire officials, Hayward Washington, Wellsville, was driving his 1999 Dodge Dakota when his brake light came on and a woman flagged him down to tell him his truck was on fire.
The alarm was sounded at 8:22 p.m., and when firefighters arrived, the truck was fully engulfed in flames, according to officials.
The flames were extinguished, and the truck was towed from the scene by Calcutta Towing. Firefighters were back in service about 9 p.m.
