East Liverpool Police Reports

An officer reported seeing a vehicle on Pennsylvania Avenue at 8:54 a.m. Monday with an expired sticker on the license plate and initiated at traffic stop. The driver, Michael L. Savors, 37, Harvey Avenue, seemed nervous, according to the officer, who found that the license plate on the SUV belonged on a 1994 Ford. Asked if he had anything illegal, Savors said he did not and was patted down for weapons, during which the officer reported seeing two orange caps sticking from his pocket which Savors admitted were syringes. When removing them from Savors’ pocket, the officer reported seeing a white paper fold which he reported Savors said contained heroin. He was charged with possession of drug abuse instruments, expired plates and illegal plates, with the suspected drugs to be sent for testing. His passenger, Devontae McKinney, 26, Cleveland, reportedly had marijuana in his coat pocket and was charged with possession of marijuana. The vehicle was towed by First Class Towing.

Heather Powers, Wilbert Avenue, reported she was with her mother, visiting a friend at another Wilbert Avenue apartment and when they left to walk back home, a couple people came out of an apartment and began yelling at her, videoing her as she helped her mother down some steps. Powers said the people told her they were calling Adult Protective Services due to her yelling at her mother, but she told officers she was arguing with her mother because she was tired. Since she did not know the names of the people involved, officers told Powers there was not much they could do.

Cole Sloan, 24, E. Fifth Street, reported someone entered his apartment and took his television and fire stick. A man who had stayed overnight at his home said when he left, an unknown man was entering the apartment building and went upstairs.

Officers responded Sunday to reports of a crash at the intersection at West Sixth and Jackson Street, where they reported Wade A. Weyand, 55, no address listed, admitted he was trying to park and struck another vehicle. According to reports, he smelled of alcohol, had slurred speech and was having trouble standing and field sobriety tests were initiated. He was charged with OVI and transported to the police station.
