An officer initiated a traffic stop New Years Day on West Eighth Street after seeing a vehicle commit several lane violations. The driver, William Adams, no age or address listed, was asked if there was anything illegal in the vehicle, and he reportedly said there was a small container with marijuana inside. The passenger, Austin R. LeMasters, 20, Malone Road, Salineville, was reportedly found with a syringe in his pocket loaded with suspected heroin and when asked if it was his, he reportedly answered, “Yes, I’m a drug user.” LeMasters was charged with possession of drug abuse instruments. The report did not indicate if Adams was charged.
A traffic stop was initiated on New Year’s Day on state Route 7 when an officer reported seeing a vehicle whose windshield was cracked, obstructing the driver’s view, and then seeing it traveling over the yellow line. The driver, Jessy Goodwin, no age or address listed, had no driver’s license and had an outstanding warrant and was taken into custody. His passenger, Travis R. McKinnon, 40, Rural Lane, Chester, W.Va., also had an outstanding warrant and was asked if he had anything illegal, to which he said he did not. A search reportedly turned up a bandana around McKinnon’s waist that contained a burnt spoon with white residue and two syringes. He was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. Both men were taken to the county jail, and the vehicle was impounded by First Class Towing.
