Columbiana County Common Pleas

Rudy S. Lang, 21, Lincoln Street, East Liverpool, pleaded guilty in Columbiana County Common Pleas Court to robbery, a lesser offense of the aggravated robbery charge he initially faced. At sentencing, the maximum sentence for robbery could be up to eight years and a $15,000 fine. Sentencing is set for Dec. 18.

Lang tried to rob Tri-State Cab in East Liverpool, when he walked into the business at 4:24 a.m. Feb. 14 carrying a board with nails protruding from it, raised the board like a bat and demanded money from the night dispatcher. When told there was no money, Lang reportedly used the board to pin the dispatcher against the wall while he searched the desk drawer before grabbing a bank bag with receipts and fleeing.
