Columbiana County Common Pleas

A Youngstown man pleaded guilty this week in Columbiana County Common Pleas Court to possessing weapons despite prior felony convictions.

Demetrius A. Lockett, 31, is scheduled to be sentenced on Feb. 16 after pleading guilty to one count of possessing weapons despite being prohibited from doing so because of prior felony convictions.

The charges stem from a October 2015 raid on a house trailer on Dutchtown School Road in Elkrun Township by the county Drug Task Force, which had obtained a search warrant after obtaining evidence that heroin was likely being stolen from the residence. Lockett was found on the property, along with three handguns, suspected drugs and money.

In other court action, Donna Jarvis, 24, Maple Hill Road, Salineville, pleaded guilty as charged to smuggling drugs into the county jail on March 17. A corrections officer found that Jarvis had inserted a strip of the drug suboxone into her anal cavity. She is scheduled to be sentenced on Jan. 30.
