The driver who was flown by helicopter to a Pittsburgh hospital after wrecking on state Route 11 near East Liverpool city limits at 1:15 p.m. Thursday has been identified as Kathy E. Persohn, 69, Summerset Road, East Liverpool. Persohn was driving south in a 2006 Focus hatchback when she went off the road, striking an embankment and some trees. She was flown to University Presbyterian Medical Center, where the report indicated she is expected to be hospitalized for some time.

Daniel S. Schultz, 62, Y Camp Road, East Liverpool, was driving on state Route 11 in Elkrun Township at 6:15 a.m. Friday when his 1999 Pontiac Montana caught fire. Schultz noticed something flickering and pulled over immediately. He exited the van before if became fully engulfed by flames. The Lisbon and West Point fire departments responded.

n Randel L. Alpago, 62, East Euclid Street, Salem, struck a deer while driving on Georgetown Road in Butler Township at 6:30 a.m. Friday.

Travis L. Langworthy, 28, of Leeper, Pa., was hauling logs on state Route 170 in St. Clair Township at 9:48 a.m. Wednesday when the load shifted, causing the semi-trailer to overturn. He was cited for failure to properly secure his load.

n Shane A. Lester, 35, Middle Beaver Road, Lisbon, was cited for failure to control after he drove off the road and rolling over while attempting to turn onto Adams Road from Neeld Road in Unity Township at 5:40 a.m. Wednesday.
