Columbiana County Highway Patrol

While patrolling state Route 39 in East Liverpool, a trooper reported seeing a westbound vehicle with tinted windows too dark to allow her to see inside. The vehicle turned into the Dollar General parking lot, where a stop was initiated. The driver, Brandon S. Myers, 42, Anderson Boulevard, smelled of marijuana, and the trooper reported seeing a baggie of green leafy material sticking from his sweatshirt pocket. In his pocket was also found a cigarette pack containing white rocks Myers reportedly admitted was crack cocaine, saying he had smoked some shortly before the traffic stop. A crack pipe and a marijuana pipe were also found in his possession, but a search of the vehicle turned up nothing, according to reports. Myers was charged with driving under suspension, possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana paraphernalia and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Benjamin O’Brien Armstead, 24, Canton, was northbound on state Route 164 in Beaver Township at 4:59 a.m. Nov. 12 when he drove off the right side of the roadway, striking a ditch, overturning and striking a pole, before going back into the roadway. He was cited with reasonable control.

Jill A. Stallsmith, 57, South Lincoln Avenue, Salem, was northbound on Fink Road in Franklin Township at 11:48 p.m. Wednesday when she drove off the right side of the roadway striking a culvert. Stallsmith was cited with reasonable control.

John D. Smith, 73, Nome Road NE, Salineville, was westbound on state Route 39 in Washington Township at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday when he struck a deer.

Brandon J. Miller, 21, South Freedom Avenue, Alliance, was eastbound on U.S. Route 62 in Knox Township at 9:04 a.m. Tuesday when he slowed down because of stopped traffic and was struck from behind by Alexis L. Jones, 18, South Sawburg, Avenue, Alliance, no injuries were reported. Jones was cited with assured clear distance.

Gary P. Schnarrenberger, 46, Carmel Achor Road, Rogers, was southbound on state Route 7 in Fairfield Township at 6:29 p.m. Wednesday when he struck a stopped vehicle driven by Huck Hughes, 47, Cricket Lane, East Liverpool. Hughes was stopped due to another crash in front of him. No injuries were reported. Schnarrenberger was cited with assured clear distance.
