Wellsville Police Reports

Police were called around 7:35 p.m. Oct. 15 to a Center Street home regarding a possible theft. Upon arrival, officers spoke with Nathan Carpenter, who said he, his wife and their children left home for about an hour–with the doors unlocked – and when they returned, they found their door locked as if someone was in the home. Carpenter said he noticed inside the garage a five-gallon bucket was missing along with miscellaneous tools inside the bucket which belonged to his boss. Carpenter was advised to start locking his doors when he leaves, and if he notices anything else missing to contact a police and a report would be completed. Shortly after clearing the scene, officers were called back to the home, to which Carpenter said his landlord came in the home while they were gone and locked up when he left. Carpenter said he still didn’t know what happened to the tools.

While sitting stationary in the area of Fourth and Main streets at 2:50 a.m. Saturday, police observed a man–identified as Bryan D. Jeffries–climb onto the hood of a minivan and attempt to kick in the windshield. An officer ordered Jeffries off the vehicle who then was taken into custody. The vehicle’s owner, David W. Merriman, said he and Jeffire were in an altercation inside a local bar but noted no visible damage to his minivan. Merriman was also reported to be intoxicated and was advised to come to the police station when he sobered up if he wanted to complete a statement regarding the alleged assault. Jeffries was cited for disorderly conduct by way of public intoxication.
