Highway Patrol

Brandon J. Hurst, 18, Raley Road, New Waterford, Danial L. Drabick, 79, Weirton, W.va., and Ferrally V. Martin, 90, Bradshaw Avenue, East Liverpool, were northbound on state Route 7 in Madison Township at 12:30 p.m. Friday and Hurst struck Drabick from behind, who then struck Martin from behind. Hurst was cited for assured clear distance.

Jason E. Keyes Jr., 17, Hill Road, East Liverpool, was stopped in traffic northbound on state Route 7 in Madison Township at 2:50 p.m Aug. 21 and was struck from behind by Jordan D. Myers, 16, Summitville Road, Salineville. Myers was cited for assured clear distance.

John L. Gibson, 24, West Main Street, New Waterford, was westbound on Taylor Road in Middleton Township at 5:19 a.m. Friday and lost control and went off the left side into a tree and a farm baler. He was cited for failure to control.

Anne M. Dingman, 51, Vine Street, Salem, was cited for OVI and failure to control after her car went off the road and into a ditch while driving on state Route 9 in Hanover Township at 9:40 p.m. Wednesday.

Nathan C. Brereton, 23, South Surry Road, East Liverpool, was cited for failure to control after driving off the road in his car and overturning on state Route 7 in Madison Township at 3:40 p.m. Wednesday.

Truck driver Blake E. Nicholson, 29, of Youngstown, was flown by helicopter to an area hospital after being injured when his semi-truck went off the road and struck a tree while he was driving on state Route 172 in Hanover Township at 4:54 a.m. Wednesday. The semi belongs to Environmental Coordination Services of Cochranton, Pa.

Mark S. Norge, 50, of West Pittsburgh, Pa., was cited after he pulled into state Route 14 from state Route 165 in Unity Township, striking a vehicle driven by Nazareno Agostino, 79, of Koppel, Pa., who was crossing in front of him. The accident occurred at 1:25 p.m. Wednesday.

Hugh V. Peterson, 90, Ridge Road, Minerva, was southbound on Rochester Road in West Township at 7 p.m. Tuesday and turned right onto U.S. 30 to go westbound and went left of center into Michelle M. Groom, 45, Lippincott Road, East Rochester who was eastbound on U.S. 30. Peterson was cited for lanes of travel.

Kathy D. Williams, 56, state Route 164, Leetonia, was northbound on state Route 164 in Fairfield Township at 9:18 p.m. Aug. 19 and hit a deer.

Angela M. Carr, 38, McCormick Run Road, Lisbon, was eastbound on state Route 518 in Madison Township at 7:15 a.m. Aug. 20 and lost control and slid off the left side into an embankment. She was cited for failure to control.

Erick L. Bauer, 49, Dover, was westbound on state Route 39 in Yellow Creek Township at 4:15 p.m. Saturday and struck Norman J. Nightingale, 86, Frischkorn Drive, Wellsville, who failed to yield at a stop sign. Nightingale was cited for failure to yield.

Michal J. Tancak, 21, Rochester Road, Minerva, was southbound on Knox School Road in West Township at 7:36 a.m. Saturday and went off the right side into a ditch and rolled over. He was cited for failure to control.

William C. Hurford, 48, Beloit, and Brienna L. Williams, 17, Beloit, were northbound on Westville Lake Road in Knox Township at 12:40 a.m. Saturday and Williams attempted to pass in a hazardous zone and struck Hurford from behind. Williams was cited for hazardous zones.

James C. Houser, 61, Mansfield, was westbound on U.S. 30 in West Township at 4:25 p.m. Friday and slowed for traffic and was struck from behind by Michael T. Hancock, 21, Westfield, Pa.. Hancock was cited for assured clear distance.

George A. Ritter, 56, Beloit, was eastbound on state Route 14 in Salem at 7:35 a.m. Aug. 19 and Chase Clayton, 18, Maple Street, Washingtonville, was eastbound an attempting to make a south turn into a private drive and struck Ritter, who was then taken to St. Elizabeth Hospital with serious injuries. Clayton was cited for right of way turning left.

Glen E. Wickersham, 44, state Route 164, Lisbon, was southbound on Lisbon Road in Salem Township at 2:34 a.m. Sunday and reportedly hit a cow. He was cited for failure to control, OVI, refusal, and placed on administrative license suspension and taken to the Salem hospital with minor injuries.

Calvin Chamberlain, 74, Beacon Way, East Liverpool, was westbound on state Route 39 in Yellow Creek Township at 12:25 p.m. Monday and attempted to back into a private drive and struck a guard rail. He was cited for improper backing.

Dawn M. Timman, 55, East Taggart Street, East Palestine, was westbound on Crestview Road in Fairfield Township at 5:30 p.m. Monday and went off the right side into a ditch. She was cited for failure to control.

Joey W. Henderson, 59, North Canton, was eastbound on state Route 172, and James J. Swords, 44, Lisbon, was westbound when a wheel detached from the camper and went into the eastbound lane striking Henderson’s vehicle. Swords was cited for unsafe vehicle.

Joseph R. Newton, 36, Lisbon Street, Minerva, was eastbound on state Route 172 in Center Township at 2:13 p.m. Friday and went off the right side into a ditch, a traffic sign and a tree. He was cited for failure to control and OVI.

Richard H. Vollnogle, 24, Monroe Avenue, Salem, was eastbound on Butcher Road in Salem Township at 7:56 a.m. Sunday and went off the right side into a mailbox, a utility pole and came to rest on the south side of the road. He was cited for failure to control and OVI.

Stephen R. Morris, 39, Lynchburg Road, Kensington, was westbound on U.S. 30 in West Township at 8:15 p.m. Aug. 18 and went off the road into a parked car in owned by Bryan Baer located in Baer’s yard, and then struck Matthew R. Norton, 25, who was standing nearby. Morris was cited for failure to control, OVI and driving under FRA suspension.

Josh A. Wartluft, 26, Buck Road, Knox Township, was cited for failure to control and leaving the scene of an accident after his vehicle was found overturned after striking a tree on Rochester Road in Butler Township at 10 a.m. Thursday. Wartluft was nowhere to be found but the trooper noticed a strong odor of alcohol inside the vehicle, and found several beer bottles. Wartluft called the next day to give a statement.

Genesta F. Sanor, 87, Winona Road, Homeworth, was southbound on 12th Street in Knox township at 11:40 a.m. Monday and Martha A. Rister, 63, Alliance, was eastbound on Georgetown Road and was struck by Sanor who failed to yield at a stop sign. Sanor was cited for failure to yield and taken to Alliance Hospital with minor injuries.

Highway Patrol

Laurie K. Henderson, 37, Grant Street, Lisbon, was cited for OVI, failure to control and child endangerment after she went off the road and into a private yard on Grant Street at 6 p.m. Saturday. Henderson was involved in a domestic dispute with her boyfriend when she decided to leave and spun out of the driveway, losing control and ending up in a neighboring yard. Henderson reportedly smelled of alcohol and admitted having two glasses of wine, which resulted in the OVI charge. She also had her young son in the vehicle at the time of the accident, resulting in the child endangerment charge.

Nicholas J. Decanio, 44, Francis Drive, Wellsville, was cited for OVI, no driver’s license and a seat belt violation after he reportedly failed to stop for a stop sign at the intersection of Crawford Road and state Route 45 in Yellow Creek Township, driving straight into an embankment. The accident occurred at 12:03 a.m. Sunday. Decanio suffered a cut to the forehead.

Mark L. Graffius, 28, Beard Road, New Springfield, was cited for assured distance after he drove into a stopped vehicle, setting off a chain reaction accident on state Route 7 in Fairfield Township at 3:55 p.m. Friday. Graffius reportedly drove into the rear of a stopped vehicle driven by Donald C. Camp, 70, Lang Street, East Liverpool, who was pushed into the vehicle in front of him, which was driven by Clyde E. Stewart, 68, of Chester, W.Va. Graffius was taken to a hospital by his wife to be examined.

Linda J. Hall, 71, South Shady Lane, East Liverpool, struck a deer while driving on state Route 11 in Elkrun Township at 5:35 a.m. Friday.

Joseph J. McQuistion, 34, Front Street, New Waterford, was driving on state Route 46 in Unity Township at 1:48 a.m. Friday when a tire blew out, causing his car to strike a guardrail.

Morgan E. Hyatt, 17, South Park Circle, East Liverpool, was northbound on state Route 170 in St. Clair Township at 11:31 p.m. Monday and went off the right side, over-corrected then went off the left side into a guard rail. Hyatt was cited for failure to control.

Edward A. Duko, 27, Southeast Boulevard, Salem, was cited for left of center after he crossed the center line and struck an oncoming vehicle driven by Sean E. Cottrill, 16, West Washington Street, Lisbon, at the intersection of state Route 154 and state Route 11 in Elkrun Township at 12:06 p.m. Friday.

Jessica L. Shearer, 27, of Beaver Falls, Pa., was cited for OVI and failure to control after she went off the road and into a ditch while driving on U.S. Route 62 in Knox Township at 12:35 a.m. Sunday.

Danyail M. Hayko, 17, West Lincoln Way, Salem, was cited for failure to control after she went off the road and into a ditch while driving on St. Jacob-Logtown Road in Center Township at 11 a.m. Saturday.

While westbound on Winona Road, Jolene R. Widlicka, 49, Yates Road, Salem, reportedly failed to yield at a stop sign while turning onto state Route 9, causing her vehicle to collide with a northbound vehicle driven by Alexis L. Zehentbauer, 16, state Route 172, East Rochester. Widlicka was transported by North Star Critical Care ambulance to Salem Regional Medical Center. Reports indicated Zehentbauer and her passenger, Riley Zehentbauer, 18, same address, were both taken to the same medical facility, although no mode of transportation was noted. Widlicka was cited for failure to yield from a stop sign.

Highway Patrol

Mercedes S. McManaway, 18, Nashville, Ohio, was traveling north on Rochester in West Township at 5:49 p.m. Wednesday when a piece of wood fell off a trailer traveling south, striking McManaway’s vehicle. The other vehicle did not stop.

Brian K. Clipse II, 19, Mechanicstown Road, Hanoverton, was traveling northeast on Trinity Church Road in Hanover Township at 6:30 a.m. Thursday when he reportedly fell asleep, then traveled off the left side of the road and struck a tree and ditch. Clipse, who was not injured in the accident, was cited for failure to control.

Christi R. Kells, 45, Youngstown, and James E. Maynard, 58, Chestnut Street, Leetonia, were eastbound on U.S. 62 in Butler Township at 5:25 p.m. Saturday and Maynard was attempting to pass and their vehicles made contact. Kells and his passenger, Tracy L. Greene, 45, Youngstown, were taken to St. Elizabeth Medical Center with possible injuries. No citations were issued due to conflicting statements from both drivers.

Bradley J. Cutlip, 28, Parkview Road, Hanoverton, was westbound on state Route 39 in Salineville at 4 p.m. Wednesday and Michelle K. Rugg, 38, Bergholtz, was stopped at the state Routes 39 and 644 intersection and Rugg failed to yield at a stop sign and was struck by Cutlip. Rugg was cited for stop sign.

Donald E. Griffith, 85, Salem-Alliance Road, Salem, was eastbound on U.S. 62 in Butler Township at 6:15 p.m. Tuesday and was sideswiped by another vehicle that was westbound and continued on.

George David McLean Jr., 51, St. Clair Avenue, East Liverpool, was eastbound on state Route 344 in Fairfield Township at 7:30 p.m. Monday and went off the left side into a mailbox. He was taken to Salem Hospital for a medical issue and no citations were issued.

Edward J. Chop, 63, Youngstown, was northbound on state Route 11 in Elkrun Township at 3:20 p.m. Sunday and hit an object in the road.

Andrew L. Saling, 27, state Route 39, Salineville, was eastbound on Cameron Road in Madison Township at 6:15 p.m. Sunday and struck Sara D. Cole, 16, state Route 45, Lisbon, who was southbound on McIntosh Road. Saling was cited for failure to yield.

Megan Mchugh, 25, Slater Road, Salem, and another vehicle were northbound on Slater Road in Butler Township at 8:26 p.m. Saturday and she was struck by the other vehicle while attempting to turn left into a private drive. The other vehicle continued on.

Paul E. Shovlin, 58, Seventh Street, Columbiana, was westbound on a motorcycle on state Route 172 in Hanover Township at 1:15 p.m. Saturday and lost control and ran off the right side of the road. He and his passenger, Brenda J. Shovlin, 56, same address, were taken to St. Elizabeth Hospital with minor injuries. He was cited for failure to control.

Billy W. Passwaters, 37, Waynesburg, Ohio, was westbound on state Route 518 in Franklin Township at 12:40 p.m. Friday and went off the right side into a ditch. He was cited for failure to control.

Herbert E. Delong, 73, Stewart Road, Salem, was southbound on Darner Road in Elkrun Township at 5:34 p.m. Friday and struck a westbound vehicle on state Route 154 driven by John D. Leonard, 46, Massillon. Leonard’s vehicle went off the left side of the road and struck a guardrail. Neither driver nor their passengers were injured. Delong was cited with failure to yield at a stop sign.

Nicholas C. Blanch, 35, Poland, was following a line of vehicles westbound on state Route 14 in Unity Township at 5 p.m. Friday when he struck the vehicle in front of him driven by Dale F. Snarey, 67, Girard. Snarey then struck the vehicle in front of him driven by Rebecca J. Luman, 27, Cockeysville, Md. Blanch was cited with assured clear distance and treated at the scene by East Palestine EMS. A 7-year-old child, Nicholas R. Blanch, was taken to an unlisted hospital with minor injures. No other injuries were reported.

Larry L. Salsberry, 62, Columbiana, was westbound on East Liverpool Road in Madison Township at 11:53 a.m. Friday when he reported failed to yield at the stop sign and went into the intersection with state Route 7 where he was struck by a vehicle driven by Clifford E. Counselman, 75, Bethany, W.Va. Counselman was transported by North Star EMS to an unlisted medical facility. Salsberry was cited with failure to yield.

Christopher E. Gallo, 43, South Broadway Avenue, Salem, was stopped at a stop sign on U.S. Route 62 in Butler Township at 9 p.m. Thursday when he was rear-ended by Edward A. Slimon, 37, Ridge Road, Salem. Slimon was cited for assured clear distance.

Oda K. Sponsel, 49, Vale Road, Rogers, was traveling south on state Route 7 in Fairfield Township at 9:02 p.m. Thursday when she rear-ended Sheila L. Thompson, 54, and Ricki L. Thompson, 54, both of state Route 558, Columbiana. This led to Sheila Thompson rear-ending Carla J. Channell, 60, Sycamore Drive, New Waterford, in which Sponsel also rear-ended Thomas A. Fittante, 73, state Route 46, New Waterford. Both Sheila and Ricki were treated at the scene for minor injuries. Sponsel was cited for OVI and assured clear distance.

Terry L. McCoy, 66, Kelly Park Road, Leetonia, was heading south on Beeson Mill Road in Fairfield Township at 4:25 p.m. Thursday when he drove off the right side of the road and struck a ditch. McCoy said his steering stopped working, and an officer spotted a broken tie rod on his 2004 Cadillac SRX. No citations were issued.

Michael A. Hawkins, 38, First Street, Hanoverton, was traveling south on state Route 164 in Center Township at 4:24 p.m. Tuesday, and was backing up into a private drive when he was struck by Robert P. Bowman, 60, Niles, who was also traveling south. Hawkins was cited for assured clear distance.

Larry A. Kaufman, 71, Butler Grange Road, Salem, was backing up at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of Winona Road and Depot Road in Butler Township when he backed into Tyler Douglas Dunn, 20, Winona Road, Salem. Kaufman was cited for improper starting and backing.

Vernon L. Ballard, 40, West Chestnut Street, Lisbon, was at a stop sign on state Route 14 in Unity Township at 11 a.m. Tuesday, and was attempting to turn left on Hadley Road when he was rear-ended by James N. Ostick, 63, West North Avenue, East Palestine. Both drivers sought medical treatment of their own while Ballard’s passenger, Felicia M. Benton, 29, Allendale Avenue, New Waterford, was taken to East Liverpool City Hospital for evaluation. Ostick was cited for assured clear distance.

Kristin Michel Shamblin, 34, Slippery Rock, Pa., was westbound on Georgetown Road in Knox Township at 7:37 p.m. Monday and going beneath a train track overpass when the top of the horse trailer struck the bridge knocking the ladder off the horse trailer and onto the road. The ladder was then struck by Ryan M. McMullen, 21, Beloit.

Toby W. Jackson, 34, Aten Avenue, Wellsville, was southeastbound on McKee Road in Yellow Creek Township at 6 a.m. Monday and went off the right side into an embankment. He was cited for failure to control.

Kelly A. Lowe, 37, Ohio Avenue, East Liverpool, was east in the westbound lane of U.S. 30 in St. Clair Township at 3 a.m. Saturday and going the wrong way on the road and struck Frank T. Robinson, 22, Louisville, who was westbound. Lowe was cited for left of center on a four lane road OVI.

Avery M. Ohlin, 26, Petersburg, was eastbound on state Route 558 in Fairfield Township at 9:20 p.m. Saturday and Michael D. Jenkins, 24, North Market Street, Lisbon, was westbound and failed to yield turning left onto state Route 7 and struck Ohlin. Jenkins was cited for right of way turning left and taken to East Liverpool Hospital with minor injuries.

Kayla J. Cramer, 22, West Salem Street, Columbiana, was southbound on East Liverpool Road at 9:55 a.m. Monday and pulled off the right side after the engine began acting up and the vehicle then caught fire. She was able to get out and no injuries were reported.

Carl J. Wrenn, 36, Continental Drive, Salem, was westbound on state Route 172 in Hanover Township at 11:27 p.m. Saturday and went off the right side and kicked up gravel that caused damage to a vehicle driven by Sally J. Hays, 61, Wooddale Drive, Lisbon, that was northbound on Hanna Drive.

Christine L. Reiter, 61, Georgetown Damascus Road, Damascus, was northeast on Georgetown Damascus Road in Knox Township at 10:13 a.m. Saturday and was struck by Nancy J. Pfaff, 56, state Route 164, Lisbon, who was eastbound and failed to yield at a stop sign on Hanselman Road. Pfaff was cited for stop sign.

Sayre N. Jones, 25, Mentor, was northbound on state Route 11 in Elkrun Township at 3:51 p.m. Friday and in the left lane when the right front tire blew out. No injuries were reported.

Kahliel Evan Fletcher, 18, Alliance, was westbound on Bowman Road in

Washington Township in Stark County at 2 a.m. July 26 and went off the west side of Homeworth Road through a private yard and became stuck in an embankment and then left the vehicle. He was later cited for failure to control, driving under suspension and hit skip.

Danielle Lea Heckathorn, 27, state Route 164, Lisbon, was northbound on state Route 164 in Wayne Township at 9:45 p.m. Sunday and hit a deer and a guardrail.

Delaney R. Gardner, 19, Columbia Street, Leetonia, was traveling east on state Route 14 in Salem Township at 4:28 p.m. Friday when she struck Chelsey M. Mixter, 19, Gorby Road, East Palestine, who was slowing down in traffic as did Jennifer A. Cavanaugh, 31, Poland, and Glenn A. Weither, 73, South Walnut Street, East Palestine. Gardner’s rear-ending set off a chain reaction as Mixter then struck Cavanaugh, who then struck Weither. Gardner was cited for assured clear distance.

Daniel J. Haugh, 24, Thomas Road, Lisbon, was traveling north on state Route 30 in Madison Township at 11:20 a.m. Friday when the left front wheel came off of his vehicle. He then maneuvered the vehicle off the left side of the roadway and came to rest in the grass median.

Todd C. Sisley, 48, Ravenna, was heading south on state Route 45 in Salem Township at 11:30 a.m. Friday and slowed down for deer in the road when he was rear-ended by Kerry R. Welce, 60, Myrtle Beach, S.C. Welce, who was cited for assured clear distance, was taken to Salem Regional Medical Center for minor injuries.

Benjamin T. Elliott, 18, North Street, Kensington, was westbound on state Route 518 in Franklin Township at 12:22 a.m. Friday and went off the left side into a ditch and overturned. He was cited for failure to control and taken to Alliance Hospital with minor injuries.

Morgan P. Lockard, 17, Elizabeth Street, Hanoverton, was eastbound on U.S. 30 in Center Township at 3:50 p.m. Thursday and went off the left side into a wooded area. No citations were issued due to the crash being caused by a vehicle defect.

Cynthia D. Adams, 61, Samuel Street, East Liverpool, was northbound on Scroggs Road in Elkrun Township at 11:10 a.m. Thursday and Alberto Lajara, 29, Yonkers, New York, was southbound and went left of center into a ditch while Adams went off the right side to avoid being hit. No citations were issued.

Brandon M. Smith, 22, Lippincott Road, East Rochester, was westbound on state Route 153 in Washington Township at 6 a.m. Tuesday and went off the north side into a mailbox and an embankment and became struck in mud. He was cited for failure to control.

Scott G. Koonse, 45, East Washington Street, Lisbon, was southbound on state Route 45 in Center Township at 7:10 a.m. Thursday and went off the right side into a mailbox. He was cited for failure to control.

Stephanie A. Weingart, 46, Allendale Avenue, New Waterford, was southbound on state Route 170 in Unity Township at 6:51 p.m. Wednesday and went off the right side into a ditch and a traffic post. She was cited for failure to control.

Clarence F. Schuller Jr., 55, Alliance, was westbound on U.S. 62 in Salem Township at 12:45 p.m. Thursday and was waiting to turn left when he was struck from behind by Jeffrey E. Teel, 47, North Canton, who was cited for assured clear distance.
