Accident victim released from hospital
EAST LIVERPOOL – A man sent to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown following a two-vehicle crash on Lisbon Street in Glenmoor on Wednesday afternoon was discharged on Thursday. Carl Collins of East Liverpool had been hospitalized with head and leg injuries, while the driver of the other vehicle, William White of East Liverpool, was transported to East Liverpool City Hospital, where he was treated and released on Wednesday. According to St. Clair Township Police, White was at fault for failure to yield.
Woman cited in accident with Salem officer
SALEM – A 28-year-old Alliance woman was cited for right of way after her car struck a Salem police cruiser on Sunday, sending the officer to Salem Regional Medical Center.
According to the highway patrol report released Wednesday, Courtney Michelle Eberly struck the cruiser driven by officer David P. Young, who was responding to a call and following another police cruiser at 1:57 p.m. Sunday.
Young was running lights and sirens northbound on Lincoln Avenue and passing through the State Street intersection when his cruiser was struck by Eberly. The impact caused his vehicle to go off the right side into a light pole.
Young was taken to the local hospital with possible injuries.
