Warren man killed in route 11 motorcycle accident
CALCUTTA – A Warren man was killed Wednesday morning in a one-vehicle motorcycle accident near the Calcutta exit on State Route 11.
The Lisbon Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is currently investigating what caused the accident that claimed the life of Ronald L. Burns, 63, of Warren. According to the Highway Patrol, at approximately 9:43 a.m. Burns was eastbound on state Route 11 just west of the state Route 170 exit when the maroon Honda Goldwing 1500 motorcycle he was riding overturned ejecting him. Burns, who had been riding in the left lane came to rest of left side berm of the road. His motorcycle continued on striking the median before coming to a rest in the left lane of the highway.
EMS and rescue personnel from St. Clair Township, North Star EMS, and the Glenmoor Fire Department responded to the scene of the accident. East Liverpool and St. Clair Township police departments also assisted. The events leading up to the accident remain under investigation according to the highway patrol.
