East Liverpool Police reports for 6-3

Responding Friday night to a report of a large fight at Chris’ Hideaway Bar on Pennsylvania Avenue, Patrolman Chris Green reported seeing one man screaming and beating on his chest and Bristen Z. Lavant, 18, Martin Street standing next to him with his hand in his waistband. The police department had received a call several days earlier from a person who reported seeing Lavant loading bullets into a magazine and placing the pistol into his waistband, so Green pulled Lavant’s hands from his waist when he reportedly refused to remove them when ordered. Lavant reportedly began screaming at Green that he was being harassed and tried to elbow the officer in the face, also pushing him before jumping onto the trunk of a nearby vehicle. When Green grabbed Lavant by the collar, Lavant reportedly began kicking the officer but was finally handcuffed. He was charged with obstructing official business, resisting arrest and assault. According to reports, although asked several times if he had anything illegal on him, Lavant said he did not, but was found in possession of marijuana at the county jail, with possible charges pending there.

Jacob S. Lowther, 20, homeless, was charged with criminal trespass Saturday after officers were called to a Dresden Avenue home for an intruder. Lowther told officers he paid a man $50 to stay in the basement of the home, saying he only knew the first name of the man to whom he paid the money. Carl Poynter told officers he had purchased the home on land contract and, when he came to clean it out, found Lowther living in the basement.
