Columbiana County Sheriff Reports for 6-21
Sarah Souders, no address listed, reported at 5:24 a.m. Saturday an old friend was texting and harassing her. Deputies spoke to the friend, Annie Frasier of Salem, who said it was Souders, who was harassing her. Both were told to leave each other alone.
Megan Watt, no address listed, reported a domestic dispute at a home on Cream Ridge Road, Lisbon, at 4:28 p.m. Saturday. Then she reportedly called the dispatchers and told them deputies were not needed because she was leaving. Deputies arrived and spoke to the homeowner, who said they do not know Watt or Brian Bable and have lived at the home for 20 years.
Rebecca Smith, Alderlick Road, Wellsville, reported at 1:02 a.m. Monday a vehicle pulled up next to her barn and then the vehicle’s lights shut off. When the vehicle left her drive she could see it was her ex-husband, who is not supposed to be there without 24 hours prior notice.
Julie Tataseo, West Main Street, Salineville, reported at 12:21 a.m. Monday her 16-year-old daughter was in the yard and a car pulled up. A 14-year-old girl got out and the two girls began to fight. She yelled for them to stop, but was unable to get involved due to her medical condition. Tataseo said her boyfriend was able to get the 14-year-old off the property soon after. However, the other girl’s mother reportedly called Tataseo threatening to call the police and claiming the fight was her fault.
Mike Stiffler, Carlene Road, Lisbon, reported at 6:49 p.m. Sunday sometime about 11 p.m. Saturday he noticed someone had hit the left driver’s side door of his Jetta, possibly with a trailer hitch, but he was uncertain who did it.
Mike Runzo of Westville Lake Campground reported ATVs on the roadway. Deputies found Jason Kirby of Alliance, who had been riding his ATV on the road. He was warned if he is caught again, he would be cited and his ATV towed. Runzo said he will also tell Kirby he must leave the campground.
The Highway Patrol requested help at Guilford Lake Campground at 2:18 a.m. Monday where there was an altercation going on. Deputies found there an argument regarding the NBA Finals.
Willie Cunning, Pritchard Avenue, Lisbon, reported at 1:34 a.m. Sunday his wife had been drinking and began to argue with him. Then she punched him in the face twice. Shannon Cunning was found later sleeping inside a van and was charged with domestic violence.
William J. McFarland, 42, Old state Route 558, Salem, was charged with aggravated menacing. Sheila McClish reported McFarland came home intoxicated and became angry at her for getting rid of her telephone land line. Then Daniel Piper Jr. brought home McFarland’s live-in girlfriend, Kristin Steed, from work and McFarland began accusing her of cheating on him with Piper. He threatened to kill Piper, who is McClish’s son, and went outside to wait for him with a loaded gun. When McClish called deputies, he went into the woods with the gun and came back without it. While looking for the shotgun in the woods, deputies found two shallow-dug plots, far away from the house. McFarland said the plots were for his flowers.
Justin Depace, Stookesberry Road, Lisbon, reported at 11:53 a.m. Monday his mother, whom he has not spoken to in more than eight years, stopped by his home unannounced. She reportedly has also done so in the past and she is not welcome there. She left before deputies arrived.
Rose Watson, Township Line Road, Wellsville, reported at 8:31 a.m. Tuesday she received three telephone calls on Monday from a woman claiming to represent Columbiana County Jobs and Family Services. The woman claimed Watson qualifies for a medical insurance program through the county and wanted to come to her home on Tuesday to fill out forms. Watson declined and contacted Jobs and Family Services, which told her to disregard the call and report it to the sheriff’s office.
James Minerd, Crestview Road, New Waterford, reported at 8:25 p.m. June 11 someone kicked in the cellar door and the door leading up from his basement. His 32-inch TV was taken from the stand in the living room.
A Kirk Road, Columbiana, father reported at 4:34 p.m. Monday his 15-year-old daughter left and was at a neighbor’s home refusing to come home. The girl spoke to deputies and both she and her father agreed to have her taken to St. Elizabeth Hospital for an evaluation.
Samantha Zaplata, Roller Coaster Road, Lisbon, reported at 6:31 p.m. Monday her ex-fiance has been making numerous threats by text, Facebook messaging and phone calls. He even reportedly threatened to come to her workplace and blow other people’s heads off.
Rick Genova, Pioneer Road, Rogers, reported at 6:05 p.m. Monday his unoccupied property was broken into and someone took about 20 feet of copper water line and house wiring.
Joyce Fife, South 12th Street, Beloit, reported a domestic dispute at 8:13 p.m. Monday. Fife and her husband Harry Fife, are going through a divorce. He claimed she is hiding things from him and she claimed he burned seven photos.
Lauren Amantangelo, Mountz Road, Minerva, reported at 5:58 p.m. June 10 the neighbors were shooting unsafely. She told deputies she has been in the garden when bullets have flown past their heads. Deputies found the source of the shooting on Coledale Road, and spoke to both Jon and Kevin Fick about shooting their .22 caliber rifles safely.
Clara Guesman, state Route 154, Negley, reported a distraught man at 2:27 a.m. Tuesday. Deputies found family there calming him down and he agreed to go to a hospital for assistance.
Janet Gibson, East Liverpool Road, East Liverpool, asked deputies for assistance at 1:06 p.m. Sunday. Another woman was taken to Salem Regional Medical Center by ambulance for treatment.
Joyce Fife, South 12th Street, Beloit, reported being assaulted by her husband at 8:40 p.m. Tuesday. Fife accused Harry Fife of throwing bleach on her clothes, which resulted in an argument. When Mrs. Fife attempted to call the sheriff’s office, she said her husband grabbed the phone and shoved her. She then ran to a neighbor’s house and called from there. Mr. Fife denied shoving her but did admit pouring bleach on her clothes in retaliation for her doing the same to him. Mr. Fife was then charged with domestic violence.
A person from North Carolina called at 6 p.m. Wednesday to ask they check on the well being of a friend he had not heard from in a year. A deputy went to the person’s residence on state Route 9, near the old IGA in Kensington, and spoke with the man’s wife, who said he was sleeping but she would wake him if the deputy wanted, and the grandchildren who were there also confirmed everything was fine. The deputy said that would not be necessary.
Cheyene Elwonger, Camelot Drive, Columbiana, reported Tuesday receiving harassing calls from an unknown male.
Deputies found a stolen ATV while assisting the county Drug Task Force in serving a search warrant on a home on Johnson Road, Madison Township, at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. The ATV was stolen from London, Ontario.
Dennis Stowe, Hartley Road, Salem, reported at 11 p.m. Wednesday a green Ford Ranger and a light-colored Chevrolet were sitting next to his barn, but they left prior to the deputy’s arrival. Stowe said this was the second time that night the vehicles were on his property.
Millard Hicks, Brown Street, Lisbon, called with a trespassing complaint at 10:51 p.m. Wednesday. Deputies arrived to speak with a woman who said her boyfriend and father had been drinking when things got out of hand. They left prior to the deputies’ arrival and she declined to identify either of them or give a statement.
Bud Wasmire called in regard to a dispute on Hartley Road, Alliance, at 6 p.m. Wednesday. Deputies spoke with Kevin Wasmire, who said Melissa Boyle is renting the upstairs of the home and he gave her an eviction letter and wants her out. Wasmire was told he needed to go through the courts to obtain a proper eviction notice.
Janet Elliott, Shining Tree Lane, Salem, reported Wednesday her SUV was struck by a golf cart operated by Constance Ferris of Taylor Falls, Minn. This occurred in the Copeland Hills Golf Course parking lot.
Apryl Heck, state Route 517, Columbiana, Wednesday three guns were stolen from her home, but there was no sign of forced entry.
Roger Frazer, Knox School Road, Minerva, reported Thursday a Husqvarna chain saw was stolen from his chicken coop.
Chris Polen, 10th Street Extension, Wellsville, reported sometime Wednesday night the rear window in her husband’s pickup truck was broken.
Jamie Weston, Lakeview Road, Hanoverton, reported Thursday receiving 125 text messages from her ex-boyfriend.
